Setting a Goal For Better Time Management

There's no arguing that being your own boss is a wonderful thing, but managing yourself is not always easy when you're used to being managed by somebody else.
The hardest skill to master when you're in charge of yourself is time management. This may not have been something you needed to worry about so much when you punched in at nine and out at five - checking your brain at the door on the way out, but you are the only one responsible for your time now.
Running a home based business can afford you lots of spare time for yourself if you use your time wisely. If you don't, you may find yourself working longer hours than you planned for.
If you would place yourself in the 'no time to shower' category, no need to worry because chances are you just need to tweak one thing: your goal. It is extremely helpful to have a clearly defined goal for your business to work towards each and every day.
Take time to think about what you really want to achieve and where you want your business to go. Once you are absolutely sure, write it down and stick it to a very visible place like your computer monitor.
From now on you're not going to waste time with tasks that don't directly relate to your goal. Just like that.
Henry Ford said, "Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal."
He couldn't have been more right. If you keep moving in the direction of your goal and don't let anything steer you off path, you will arrive much quicker and more rested.
Making use of an agenda is a great way to establish priorities and schedule yourself efficiently and effectively. For example, if you know you have to run four errands in the same area write them down so that you get them all done at the same time and don't waste time going back and forth.
Your day planner will also serve as a reminder that you have more important things to do when you start to file things out of procrastination.
Spending a little time coming up with a clear goal today will save you a lot of time tomorrow, and you'll get to experience the freedom that comes with being your own boss.
